Alicante-Elche airport exceeded one million passengers in May, for the first time in the El Altet´ airport´s history. There were a total of 1,014,560 passenger movements in May, a 4.1% increase on the same month of last year. Domestic traffic increased by 5.9% with 98,534 passengers, whilst international traffic grew by 4% to 914,137. Visitors from the United Kingdom took the largest share with 449,111, followed by Germany with 72,617, the Netherlands with 63,011, Norway with 61,640, Belgium with 48,546 and Sweden with 40,709. There were a total of 7,089 flights in May, also an increase of 3.1% over the same month last year.
