Free Buses on Friday and Great Events this Weekend
This weekend, a range of organised activities are taking place in the Orihuela municipality, including some activities at the coast.
The town hall departments of beaches and young people have arranged some events on the Orihuela Costa, with La Caleta beach at Cabo Roig being the chosen location.
On Saturday 22 September, there will be a “Diving Baptism” from 10:00 in the morning until noon.
In case you´re wondering, a diving baptism is the first diving experience that someone does, and therefore considered an initiation to the diving experience. It is normal for the attendee to put on the complete diving kit and then dive for the first time, always accompanied by a qualified diving instructor.
The activity begins with a brief theoretical explanation on how to move underwater, how to breathe and the safety rules that must be taken into account.
On Sunday 23 September the beach hosts paddle surf from 09:30 a.m. until 11:000 a.m., plus activities for children from 10:00 a.m. until noon. If that all seems a little too energetic for you, how about Yoga from 11:00 a.m. until noon, where you can relax, stretch and meditate to the sound of the waves lapping against the shore.
The environmental department have also organised events this weekend, this time in Orihuela centre but also covering the coast. The use of public or self-powered transport offers many advantages to the environment, which the town hall want to highlight.
On Friday 21 September, buses in Orihuela Town and Orihuela Costa will be free, thanks to an agreement with the companies, Sigüenza and Costa Azul.
On Saturday, 22 September, at the La Lonja Auditorium, there will be events that focus on self-powered transport, namely the bicycle. At 11:00 there will be lessons about cycling in the town, and at noon, there will be workshop looking at cycle repairs.
