Bats – Good or Evil?
A guided walk is offered through the La Mata Natural Park (Torrevieja, Alicante), looking at bats in their natural environment. Are they good, or are they evil?
Bats have sometimes been the victims of bad press, through films depicting them as blood-thirsty night creatures, but sometimes a symbol of good against evil, albeit with the help of a human, under the guise of Batman, but what is the truth? Are bats good, or are they really evil?
Human beings have a tendency to fear the unknown, and we subsequently assume that unknown to be bad, dangerous or harmful. That is exactly what has happened with bats and other animals that, the cinema and the false beliefs of humans, have brought them to the brink of extinction.
That is why, on this occasion, the Natural Park of La Mata-Torrevieja will host a guided walk that will dispel the false myths and legends about bats, through an activity framed within the latest evening stroll through the natural parkland.
During the walk you will get to know bats a little better, their world and their customs, as well as their “superpowers” of which, we humans, we can learn to improve our own traits and at the same time preserve this fascinating species in danger of extinction.
The activity will consist of a small talk at the Interpretation Centre, in Spanish, followed by a field trip to detect the presence of bats in the park.
Since it is an evening activity, you are also invited to bring your sandwiches to enjoy in the natural park at night, just like our friends do bats.
So, do you dare face the bats?
