Officers from the National Police have arrested a fugitive wanted by the British authorities for the crime of sexual assault.

The arrest took place in a cafe in the centre of Palma de Mallorca on the 27th of March, when the officers detained the 45 year old man. He also presented false documents to the officers at the time.

The arrest was in connection with an investigation of crimes between 2001 and 2002, involving a child under 5 years of age, that were reported in 2011. The arrestee is believed to by on the U.K. Sex Offenders register and was in hiding on the Spanish island.

The operation was carried out by officers from the International Crime Group and the Judicial Police in coordination with the British police.
