Officers from the Guardia Civil in Ciudad Real have arrested a person for an alleged offence against the protection of domestic animals, having investigating the deaths of two cats found to have been intentionally poisoned in the Las Islas area of the town of El Robledo.

The officers, from the animal protection branch of the Guardia Civil, SEPRONA, started the investigation after a neighbour had complained to the corps regarding the death of the two cats.

Having inspected the bodies of the two felines, the investigation led officers to a neighbour, a 38 year old with the initials M.Q.S., whom the cat owner had suspected already.

The suspect surrendered a bag containing poison, as officers found two plates containing contaminated tuna, which analysis revealed had been laced by a strong, poisonous substance.

The arrestee, along with the evidence, was presented before the courts in Ciudad Real.
