Doomed cruise ship Costa Concordia has claimed another life this weekend, as a Spanish diver died whilst working on the salvage operation.
Israel Moreno Franco, a 42 year old working for the Cádiz based Underwater Contractors Spain, apparently suffered a leg injury whilst working on attaching floatation devices to the hull of the ship.
Franco´s dive partner brought his to the surface alive, where he was treated for severe bleeding, only to die a short time later as a result of blood loss.
The victim was taken by air ambulance to Orbetello hospital, and an investigation has now been launched into the latest tragic chapter in this historic shipping incident.
