Ría de Bilbao

A 19 year old Moroccan man died at the weekend when he fell into the Ría de Bilbao in the centre of the Basque city.

The incident occurred on Saturday night when it is believed the man went to the river in order to urinate. A friend jumped in shortly afterwards to try to save him but had to leave the water suffering a state of hyperthermia.

The survivor was taken to hospital for treatment of his condition and an injury to his arm, whereas the lifeless body of the deceased was found over 2 hours later.
