Officers from the Guardia Civil, assigned to the Judicial Police, are investigating the discovery of human remains found partially buried near a cliff face in Torrevieja.
The gruesome discovery was made on Christmas Eve when a neighbour walking in the area alerted the authorities of the presence of “half-buried” skeletal remains a few metres from the cliff edge, at Cala de los Trabajos, just to the north of Playa de Los Locos.
After arriving at the scene and confirming the discovery to be human, the Guardia Civil, with the local police, proceeded to cordon off a large area of land, before forensic experts joined them to carry out a detailed search.
Although the cove rich area has seen countless lives lost over the years, through either accident or suicide, the investigators are convinced that these remains were placed their intentionally, and the person has been dead for some time, although no further details have been released as the courts have issues a “gagging” order on the case, pending the results of the investigation.
