The remains of the van

A crash between a car and a van on the AP7 motorway near Gandia on Saturday resulted in the van being shunted into a riverbed and two people being killed instantly at the scene.

Fire fighters attended and reported that the van had fallen 20 metres, and that they had recovered two fatalities, one male and one female, as well as a third who was alive and being treated for their injuries.

Rescuers and divers scoured the area in case there were more victims who could have fallen from the vehicles. This was ruled out sometime after the search had begun.

Emergency services are advising caution whilst driving, especially as roads can be busier with unfamiliar drivers, as well as adverse and unusual weather conditions.
