Clearly excited by the prospect, around 14 children from the Los Dolces school took to the stage, song sheets in hand, to entertain the audience at the switching on ceremony of the Orihuela Costa Christmas lights on Thursday.
Prior to the entertainment, a fair crowd had gathered, as the government team, comprised of Martina Scheurer from the Los Verdes, along with Antonio Zapata and Carolina Gracia of the PSOE, with Pedro Mancebo from Clr and Bob Houliston from CLARO all supporting the event, with a noticeable absence of any representative from the PP, the spectacle centre became surrounded by the residents and visitors keen to enjoy the illuminating event.
Immediately after the speeches, before the government members dashed off to the city for a similar event there, the honour of pressing the button to switch on the lights was given to one very lucky little girl, the delight obvious on her face, as the orihuela costa gave off a sudden glow, with the spirit of Christmas joy abundant.
As the singers then sang, the lights emitted their glow; the pride on the faces of the internationally representative parents echoed the warmth of the event, officially marking the start of the Christmas season of 2013.
