SIT-IN PROTEST AT ALICANTE ELCHE AIRPORT

Unions representing workers at Alicante-Elche airport called for a protest to take place on Tuesday, showcasing how they are against the privatisation of the airport terminal car park facilities.

Union leaders believe that the privatisation will lead to the dismissal of four workers currently employed by Spanish airport authority, AENA, and therefore called for a “sit in” protest to take place at 10:00, to coincide with the break time of workers at the terminal building.

The unions also say that this protest is just a “starting point” for future action against the privatisation of Aena, a process which, in the opinion of the unions, “involves serious changes in economic and working conditions of workers”.
