A previously helped dog

Following last week´s warning from the Asociación Asoka el Grande animal welfare association of the increase in thefts of dogs in Orihuela, the management of the municipal animal protection centre has renewed calls for dog owners to keep a watchful eye on their pets, and report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.

This renewed call came after the body of a dead dog was found dumped in the Los Palomares area of Torrevieja, having been wrapped in a blanket but showing signs of having been the victim of a violent attack, believed to have been caused in a clandestine fight between dogs.

The association is getting increasingly concerned over the increase in both dog fighting and animals being taken for both fighting and training purposes, and them, along with the police, are keen to collate as much evidence as possible to try to bring those responsible to justice.
