A very special weekend for Spain

Good evening you beautiful people, welcome to another Friday, another weekend, another update of some of the best things to look forward to.

Planes

Firstly, Saturday is a National Holiday in Spain; in fact, it is perhaps the biggest and most patriotic day in the Spanish holiday calendar as it is Spain´s National Day. One of the biggest highlights is a military parade through Madrid, normally presided over by the King, but this year, the future king of Spain, Prince Filipe, the Prince of Asturias will be looking after things.

Because of the recession, the event had been scaled down recently, but this year it looks set to be bigger and better once again, with the Patrulla Águila already in Madrid ready for their flypast. You might also see them when they return to San Javier in the afternoon, so keep an ear out.

If you like a man or woman in uniform, then tomorrow is the day to see them. Oh, and a goat in uniform too!!!

In Torrevieja, there is a dog show at the Habaneras shopping centre, although quite whether or not the “no dogs allowed” signs have been taken down might prove an issue for the more obedient canine attendees. I will tag on the other “What´s On” guide at the end of this.

Personally, I am still working Saturday, the second holidayday I have worked this week!!! I know, it´s not like it´s real work!!! Angela and Michelle will be with me in the studio from noon on Exite Radio for Simply Small Talk, two hours of interlectual conversation!!! (No, I know, not really). You can tune your radio to 93.1fm if you haven´t done so already, or listen via the internet at www.exiteradio.com. Actually, I have no idea what we´ll be talking about, but I´m sure we´ll think of something. Then Kevin gives you all the sports stuff too from 2pm, including a chat with boxer Ricky Pow before his fight / match / game (what do you call them) this week.

Jake Canuso is in Benidorm, signing copies of his calendar again, so if you want to meet the man behind Mateo from the TV show, then get yourself over to the Flash Hotel. Talking of TV, don´t forget that Corrie took a break for football on Friday, so remember to watch it on Sunday.

Right, that´s it, apart from your weather and what´s on thing…

Saturday – Partly cloudy with a chance of rain, high of 23C, winds from the East at 5 to 20 km/h.

Saturday Night – Overcast with a chance of rain in the evening, then mostly cloudy, lows of 19C, winds less than 5 km/h.

Sunday – Overcast, highs of 24C, winds less than 5 km/h.
